The properties of blueberry
The blueberry is a small shrub that grows between fifteen and fifty centimeters in height and is a fruit that is particularly sought after for the many properties of its well-known dark berries . Their properties improve night vision, promote blood clotting, and combat both diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases caused by advancing age.
Particularly abundant is vitamin K. It is a fat-soluble vitamin that is very available in nature, especially among green leafy vegetables. It is absorbed during digestion and transported to the liver and from there to the various tissues. It is involved in blood coagulation and acts as an antihemorrhagic, intervening in a series of chemical reactions responsible for transforming a group of proteins such as prothrombin and various plasma proteins.
These proteins allow fibrinogen to be transformed into fibrin, allowing the formation of the clot. In addition, vitamin K also intervenes in the correct functioning of some proteins that form and maintain strong bones, such as osteocalcin (or bone GLA protein), necessary for normal bone metabolism .
